Instagram continues to adopt successful features from other apps. This time, a new story format has been launched – Reels. It was copied from the popular TikTok video format. Riels have been tested in Brazil since November and are now available in over 50 countries around the world, including the United States, India, Japan, Germany, and Australia. Russia has not yet entered the list of countries where Reels is available.

The Reels format allows you to create videos with a 15 seconds length with the addition of music and AR effects. Playback can be sped up or slowed down. Unlike regular Instagram stories, Reels offers users more sophisticated editing tools.

Popular Reels, like other content, will be able to get into the “Recommended” section. They will be there for a certain time, and the author of this video will receive a notification about it.

If the user has a public account, everyone on Instagram can watch and share his Reels videos. Also, reels can appear on effects, hashtags and audio pages.

It is also noted that all Reels videos posted in the feed or Highlights section will appear on the Reels tab in the user’s Instagram profile. Reels videos posted to stories and sent in Direct messages will disappear after 24 hours and will not be visible on the user’s profile.
